Are you a Disney fan looking for a way to share your love of the Mouse? Disney fans across the globe have learned ways that they can share their love of The Walt Disney Company with others, with many of them finding ways to earn money in the process.
Each month I highlight a “Disney Creator” – a Disney fan who has taken their love of Disney and turned it into something even more. This monthly blog series showcases diverse creators, visionaries, and business owners who are making magic through their social media accounts, on podcasts and YouTube, in their own stores, and even by planning other people’s vacations. What each of these individuals has in common is their love of The Walt Disney Company and their desire to share their creations with other Disney fans across the globe.

Beth VanCurine – Disney Style Blogger
This month in the Becoming a Disney Creator series, I spoke with Beth VanCurine, a Disney Style blogger who finds magic in and out of the Disney Parks. Beth is a brand ambassador for several small businesses (including karma&kismet!) and has worked with well known companies such as Box Lunch. Learn how Beth creates her own magic using style below.

Tell me about the content you create
I largely focus on Disney Style, and infusing Disney into my everyday looks. I don’t live locally to any of the Disney Parks, so I have the added challenge of creating interesting Disney content right where I’m located in Baraboo, Wisconsin. I also recommend books that Disney fans might like, park tricks and tips, and video game/movie reviews.
I also share non-Disney content – I try to find places to explore when I travel that aren’t Disney, as I know there are a lot of people that can’t get down to the parks as often, but crave that magic and adventure.

Why did you start creating Disney content?
When my husband and I moved four hours away from everyone and everything we knew and loved, I was very lonely. I had a hard time finding a job or meeting new people, so I started to think about social media as a way to connect with others. One of the only joys for me at that time was going to our local Disney outlet store, and I found an Aladdin bomber jacket that they had designed and released for the live action movie. Even though I didn’t have anywhere to wear it, I fell in love with it and bought it. Once I stumbled onto the Disney community on Instagram, I realized there were people just like me, and thought that it was something I’d like to try.
I have always loved beautiful and whimsical clothes, and I am very interested in fashion. Before this account, I was happy to wear cheaper clothes that were practical. They didn’t fit me well and I didn’t take the opportunity to express myself with my clothes. I have gotten much more adventurous with what I wear on a daily basis, and this account has helped me evolve my style and my confidence in a big way. I have so much fun looking for whimsical and timeless pieces, and love wearing them on and off the ‘gram.

What drew you to the Disney Community?
Disney has always been incredibly special to me. I didn’t go when I was a child; I was in high school the first time I went to a park. I have always lived in the upper Midwest, so getting down there often wasn’t really an option for my family. Disney movies have always made me feel so happy, and I always dreamed of going to the parks often or being a part of a Disney creative team. When I went with my now-husband for the first time, we both really fell in love with the magic in a big way, and now we try to go as often as we can. I have found some really amazing friends on Instagram, and have become so much more confident in myself since I’ve started this account.
What advice do you have for other Disney Creators?
I struggle with this daily, but I encourage any other creator to not get wound up in the likes and the follows. You are so much more than a number. Create content that inspires you, and that you are proud of. Create content that brings you joy. And open yourself up to new friends and new experiences. You never know what can happen!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
We talk a lot about moving closer to the parks so creating is easier, and so we can have immediate access to festivals and events. I have so much fun expressing myself and finding ways to be creative. I’m so excited to see where this journey takes me!

Get to Know Beth
What is your favorite park? This is a tie between Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. I’ve always loved the old Hollywood glamour feel of the Studios, and I love Tower of Terror so much. Magic Kingdom is so magical and classic, and if I could only visit one park, I’d choose that one.
Who is your favorite character? I love all of the Disney princesses, but I really identify with Rapunzel. She has to deal with so much, and comes out of the situation with grace. She is passionate and loving and optimistic. I just love that about her.
What is something on your Disney bucket list? I would love to have a meal at Club 33. We also would love to visit all of the international parks, but Tokyo is on the top of our list. Hopefully we can get there in the next few years.
