How to have the Coziest Disney Home
In the northeast, where I live, the fall weather is officially gone and we are headed straight for winter. With the colder weather and it getting darker earlier, all I want to do after a day at work is come home to a nice cozy apartment with a few sprinkles of Disney magic (okay, maybe it’s more than a few). Achieving that cozy Disney home is hard work though! I’ve had three years of trying to perfect it in my current apartment and for the first time, I feel like I’ve really hit the nail on the head! How? Embracing the idea of “hygge,” (pronounced “hoo-ga”) a Danish way of life that is all about “cozy contentment and well-being.”

Embrace Hygge – Just like Oaken from Frozen!
If you’ve seen Frozen on Broadway or listened to the cast recording you might be thinking “wow, that word sounds familiar.” That’s because a song, called “Hygge” was added to the broadway show that riddled off all of the wonderfully simple things in life that make Oaken so happy!
Below are several easy ways to make your house cozier with a bit of Disney magic. As you read through remember that hygge is all about simplicity, contentment, and well-being. It also is very personal, so these suggestions are “simply” (see what I did there?) that – suggested ways to make your home a bit warmer during the cold months, but find your own way that’s perfect for you!
Ways to make your home Cozy and Full of Disney Magic
Candles

Cut down on the electric bill and add a little bit of warmth to your home with candles. Make it even more magical with a Disney inspired Holiday candle, like this one from Magic Candle Company. Magic Candle Company is one of my favorite places to shop for Disney inspired candles because they have a huge selection and the scents are available as candles, room sprays, wax melts, fragrance oils, and air fresheners .
Throw Blankets

Blankets are one of my favorite pieces to decorate with. Want to soften the look of a room? Grab a throw blanket. Want to introduce a new color scheme? Grab a throw blanket. Want to decorate for the Holidays? Grab a throw blanket! Essentially, throw blankets are the best kept interior design secret because they are versatile and SUPER cozy.
I have all the heart eyes over this Wall-E and Eve Christmas blanket from BoxLunch!
Coffee/Tea Cup

What is more cozy than a hot cup of your favorite tea, coffee, or hot chocolate? The answer is clearly nothing! I use coffee cups in my decorating as pencil/pen holders and to hang in my kitchen. This cup is one of my newest additions to the shop and was inspired by Nordic design!
Comfort Food

Throw on an apron and get cooking! Make your favorite disney dish to add even more magic to your cozy home. I stumbled upon this “copycat” recipe for Walt Disney World’s Very Merry Christmas Party Pumpkin Spice Waffles from Theme Parks for Grown-Ups and got all the cozy Disney vibes.

I saved the best, and most important piece for last – your people. The best way to make your home cozy and full of magic is by spending time with your loved ones. If you live alone call a friend or FaceTime a family member. Instantly your home will feel ten times more cozy!
